In 2017, Ruben emerged onto the scene with the release of three independent singles. His efforts generated over two million streams, which earned him a place on stage as direct support for artists such as The Chainsmokers, Nelly, Akon, Langston Francis, and Classified. He is a true cross‐over artist and writer, who has earned cross-platform charting success in multiple genres including Spotify Viral Canada, Hype Machine, and iTunes’ Electronic, R&B, and Pop categories. His prior single “Bad Habits” was produced by award winning artist/producer Classified and was named "one of the best Canadian songs” by Complex Magazine's Northern Touch List. The song received over 700K spins and Ruben went to perform the song live on Global Television's National Morning Show. The song earned Ruben an nomination for 2018 Urban Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, as well as Male Artist, and Pop Recording of the Year at the YYC (Calgary) Music Awards.
Ruben spent most of 2018 developing as a songwriter.
